Bolts are an important component in flange connections.
ERIKS is the exclusive partner of Lonestar Fasteners Europe (LSFE) in the Netherlands. Lonestar is a leading manufacturer and distributor of standard, special and exotic stud bolts, fasteners and bolt materials for Europe's energy and critical industries.
Large stock and own sawing possibilities.
Heavy hexagon nuts
Heavy hexagon nuts are slightly larger than standard hex nuts and can be used with high strength and large diameter bolts. The specifications for nuts are defined in the ASTM A194 standard and are designated by a grade. Unless otherwise specified, the 'American National Standard Heavy Hex Series' (ANSI B18.2.2) is used unless otherwise specified.
Studbolts and nuts
Studbolts (threaded rod with 2 heavy hexagon nuts) are generally used in the offshore, chemical and petrochemical industry. Studbolts are available in various sizes, lengths and materials.
Grade | Spec. | Material | Temp. | description |
B7 | A193 | CrMo Alloy | -100/+485°C | B7 is the most common grade in the oil & gas and petrochemical industry. ERIKS has a wide range of B7 stud bolts in various diameters and lengths in stock. diameters and lengths in stock. |
B7M | A193 | CrMo Alloy | -100/+485°C | B7M differs from grade B7 in strength requirements and testing. B7M bolts have lower minimum mechanical requirements than grade B7 and require a 100% hardness test. |
L7 | A320 | CrMo Alloy | -100/+400°C | Grade L7 studbolts have the same chemical and physical properties as B7. An additional requirement is that for grade L7 a charpy test (test method for predicting susceptibility of steel to brittle fracture) is required for Grade L7. Grade L7 is common in low temperature applications. |
L7M | A320 | CrMo Alloy | -100/+400°C | A320 grade L7M is designed for low temperature acid gas environments, where high concentrations of hydrogen sulphide gases are present. L7M studbolts require a 100% hardness test. |
B16 | A193 | CrMoVa Alloy | -100/+585°C | Grade B16 is thermally treated chrome-molybdenum vanadium steel, for high pressure and high temperature applications. It has the same physical properties as B7. However, due to the added vanadium, it is able to maintain its strength up to 593°C. |
B8 Cl1 | A193 | SS 304 | -200/+400°C | Grade B8 Class 1 studbolts are manufactured from 304 stainless steel and carbide solution treated. solution treated'. Grade B8 Class 1 is non-magnetic, has good corrosion resistance and offers 75,000 PSI of tensile strength. |
B8 Cl2 | A193 | SS 304 | -200/+400°C | Grade B8 Class 2 studbolts are manufactured from 304 stainless steel and carbide solution treated with solution treated' with the addition of 'strain hardened' (SH). Strain hardened is a cold working process whereby the physical properties of 75,000 PSI tensile strength are increased to 90,000-125,000 PSI. B8 Class 2 is non-magnetic and provides good corrosion resistance. |
B8M CL2 | A193 | SS 316 | -200/+400°C | B8M grade 2 is similar to B8 with the addition of molybdenum, which gives it better corrosion resistance than grade B8. |
B8C | A193 | SS 347 | -200/+400°C | B8C is SS 347(UNS S34700), a high-alloy austenitic stainless steel, which is used in applications with steel, which is used in applications with extreme conditions. The differs from standard B8 due to the addition of tantalum and columbium. |
B8T | A193 | SS 321 | -200/+400°C | Grade B8T is stainless steel with Titanium added. Comparable with SS 321. |
660 A,B,C,D | A453 | Incoloy A286 | -45/+538°C | ASTM A453 relates to high temperature studbolts with an expansion coefficient comparable to austenitic stainless steel. One of the most common in ASTM A453 is grade 660 (available in A,B,C and D). |
Washers
Threaded fasteners do a more reliable job when accompanied by washers. Washers protect the surface from damage during installation and minimize the friction for the nut. They distribute the pressure and prevent the fastener from moving or corroding.
