PTFE has a very wide and good chemical resistance. It also has a very good temperature resistance, from extremely low up to 260°C. Unfortunately it has poor mechanical properties in its virgin form.
To be able to use PTFE as a gasket we need to modify the PTFE. This can be done by using fillers in combination with bi-axial structuring, or by expanding the PTFE monodirectional or multidirectional. The expanded version is called ePTFE, invented by GORE.
ERIKS has several qualities and brands of PTFE products. We have modified PTFE sheets from A-brand manufacturer GARLOCK; the GYLON range. Next to this we have our own brand from LEADER; the CLIPPERLON range. From sheet we can cut standard gaskets or custom shapes.
The industrial ePTFE range is based on the A-brand GORE. Next to this we have our own brand from LEADER with qualities that can also be used in food and pharma applications.
Material ePTFE is available as a ready-made UPG800 gasket, a gasket cut from sheet or as a self-adhesive tape.
